2017 – Nepal là một đất nước khác nữa, thể hiện sở thích của mình, đi trải nghiệm thay vì du lịch. Mình yêu thích nông thôn hơn thành phố, yêu thích văn hoá, thiên nhiên, con người bản địa hơn là những khu phố sầm uất, tập nập người qua lại.
Nepal trong trí nhớ của mình là những ngày leo bộ dọc theo dãy núi Himalayas, từ sáng sớm tới chiều muộn, vượt qua những núi đá, con dốc, cánh rừng.
Bức ảnh này được chụp khoảng 3 giờ chiều, khi còn khoảng 2 tiếng nữa tới điểm cuối Annapurna Based Camp. Trời dần tối, gió bắt đầu nhiều hơn.
Mình đúng kiểu lê lết những bước chân cuối ngày, vừa mệt, say độ cao, vừa rét nữa.
Việc đâu tiên 4 người trong đoàn đến nơi là đi thẳng vào phòng và đắp chăn, tụi mình bỏ luôn cả bữa tối.
Nhưng đêm đó lại là khoảnh khắc đáng nhớ nhất của chuyến hành trình. Nửa đêm, mình tỉnh dậy đi vệ sinh. Lọ mọ theo ánh đèn lờ mờ đi xuống cuối hành lang. Nước nhà vệ sinh cũng đã đóng một lớp băng mỏng phía trên, sờ vô thấy buốt.
Xong xuôi, mình bước ra khoảng sân rộng phía trước đứng nhìn. Wow! Trăng sáng, rất sáng, có lẽ do ngọn núi tuyết trước mặt làm khung cảnh càng sáng hơn. Quá hũng vĩ!!!
Mấy kiểu đi trekking của mình là như thế đó, người không thích sẽ bảo “như đi đầy”, người thích sẽ thốt lên: “Quá là đáng sống!”

Nepal shows my preference for immersive experiences over conventional tourism. I like quiet countryside places more than busy cities, and enjoy the local customs, nature, and people more than crowded streets.
My recollections of Nepal are defined by the long days of trekking in the Himalayas, moving through rocky paths, steep hills, and thick woods from morning to late afternoon.
This picture was taken around 3 p.m., roughly two hours shy of reaching Annapurna Base Camp. It was gradually getting dark and windy. By then, I was very tired, feeling sick from the high altitude, and cold.
When we finally got there, all four of us went straight to our rooms to get warm under blankets. We even skipped dinner.
But that night became the most special moment of the trip. Around midnight, I woke up to go to the bathroom. I made my way through a barely lit hallway. The water in the toilet was so cold, it had a thin layer of ice on it.
Leaving the toilet, I stepped out into the wide courtyard in front and looked up – Wow! The moon was very bright, and it looked even more beautiful because of the snowy mountains in front of me. It was an amazing sight!
That’s what my hiking trips are like. Some people might say it feels like ‘servitude’. But for those who cherish it, it’s nothing short of ‘truly living!’
